Preparing for her arrival

I've been so busy lately that I think I've neglected the pregnancy, or rather neglected my dear daughter...I was busy with projects one after another in April & May, not giving me space to even breath. Then in June, it was all about mum, PLUS work...So I felt so exhausted!

Finally last 2 weeks, I had some time for myself and I realized both hubby and I are not really prepared and ready for our baby girl's arrival as yet. And u know what? We are now left with ONLY two more months to go before my expected due date!

Firstly we have not decided on her name, both English & Chinese name...so that's one headache for me. Been looking through the names-dictionary which we got it as a Christmas gift when we got married, but nothing excites me as yet though we have short-listed a few...

As part of the preparation, shopping is definitely not avoidable! In the last 2 weeks, we have been shopping quite a bit for our baby girl, including getting her bedding, clothing and other new born essentials ready.

In preparation for labour, I've also started to do more exercises & reading. Since we did not opt for antenatal class refresher, I took out all the notes from previous antenatal class to read too.

Somehow I still feel that we have not done enough to prepare for our baby girl's arrival...Or maybe that's how it is when u have a second baby?

To be honest, normally people tend to neglect the 2nd child and not prepare so much as compared to the 1st. I think you're doing a pretty good job making sure the 2nd one gets as much attention as the 1st. All the best to ya!

I don't think most parents neglect the 2nd child. They are just more confident and experienced after the first born baby. I guess there will be less preparation and less things to buy as many stuff can be reused.

Anyway, all the best to you on your second baby!

Preparation is never completed. But since this is the second child than you should already be exprienced in going about the getting things done. Selecting of the child's name is the biggest headache. There are just too many names to choose from.

Hey Sharlydia,

How about you watch all those movie-credits at the end of the show/movie to get some name ideas?

Seriously, there are lots and lots of names there (mostly English la, unless you watch Chinese shows), 'created' names and even different variations.

For example: Elizabeth, Lizbeth, Elisabeth, Elsa and Eliza (both of which are diminutives of Elizabeth)...

You can look and see which one fits the surname...

Just a suggestion lar...

zewt - hey! 2 months is not long at all...anyway getting things ready early is always better, i feel safer that way...hehe...

cbenc12 - 2 months may sound long, but due to the nature of my current job, when i'm bz means totally no time for anything else! so since i have some time now, better get ready lor...

daniel - yeah...exercise is good, will help in delivery too!

natasha - trying my best here! also trying to remind hubby the same thing coz i felt he hasnt really pay much attention to this pregnancy & the everything about our baby girl...

hcfoo - u'r right, many things can be reused actually, but not everything lor, ie. since my son is only 2, he still sits on the stroller when we go shopping, so we bought a new stroller. also her pinkish clothings all...cant be getting her to wear all her koko's clothes right? hehe...

dio - tell me about it! I'm going thru the names-dictionary for 3 times now...sigh...

daphne - thx for the suggestion. The names-dictionary I have has almost every name u can think of, plus the variation! I guess i'm just fussy lar...
